Philippines

The Philippines has historically been prone to severe weather. However, the country has suffered dramatically in recent years, with about twenty tropical storms hitting Philippine waters yearly, with as many as eight having drastic landfall. Because of climate change, tropical cyclones have become more frequent and intense in the region during the last decade. Furthermore, two elements specific to the Philippines, topography and development, have conspired to intensify both the threat and its disastrous repercussions. The Philippines is situated in the western part of the Pacific Ocean, encircled by naturally warm seas that are expected to get much warmer as temperatures rise. Afghanistan
