Artificial Intelligence is all the rage in the current age, and some people feel that everything we do will be changed in a few years. Their premise is that AI will take over everything and finish any need for human workers.

However, that idea in its entirety is ever unlikely to happen. And even with more efficient AI models and machines to support their execution, there will always be a need for humans for so many tasks.

AI and Machines can learn anything that is presented to them. However, some intangible thoughts, feelings, and skills cannot be articulated and passed on to the technology. Anyone associated with such skills will not be affected by AI.

Emotional Intelligence

Humans are emotional beings and need the support of one another frequently. Whether you’re a car salesperson or someone leading a corporate team of experts, the ability to show emotions and motivate others to perform better can only come from emotional Intelligence.

Sometimes all someone needs to hear are kind words and a gentle reminder of one’s skills. Emotional Intelligence is missing in machines, and they will unlikely be able to adapt it.

Critical Thinking

Critical thinking is the ability to evaluate a problem and develop a solution. While it may appear something AI does, it is much different. Humans can initiate problem-solving based on the smallest feedback based on their own experience.

Any problem-solving done by AI will be based on the input of specific information. The problem-solving will come from the pre-existing solutions since AI cannot generate out-of-the-box first-time solutions.

Creativity & Innovation

People come up with unusual yet convenient ideas all the time. These thoughts and related actions lead to innovations that help make our lives better.

While the machine can solve problems based on pre-set principles and all problems solved in the past are available, AI can’t develop a novel innovation.

Ethical Considerations

Getting the job done is just one aspect of any work. Getting it done correctly without breaking laws or hurting others is entirely different. Ethical considerations are built into human thinking.

However, these considerations are so extensive and complex that they may be challenging to teach to a machine. Artificial Intelligence cannot judge ethical matters the same way a human is trained to over the years, and it is not likely to change.

Adaptability

Humans are excellent at adapting to change and responding to the environment. AI also adapts to change but is limited to the learning process. Humans respond to changes with their feelings and all senses.

AI can adapt to changes in the algorithms of software, but it may be difficult for it to adapt and respond to changing moods of a human. True adaptability also needs emotional Intelligence.

Leadership

Humans perform most of their actions in groups, and someone leads them. In a time of difficulty, leadership is essential to get the job done. Leadership requires a strong will, a clear vision, and a benevolent person at the helm of affairs.

However, understanding the concept may be difficult regarding Artificial Intelligence. The fact is that computer systems work based on a predefined workflow. AI improves the workflow, but it is hard to imagine it coming up with solutions for unknown problems while making considerations for its resources and capabilities at an emotional level.

Cultural Understanding & Sensitivity

There are many cultures worldwide, and people have sensitivities about them. Humans are careful when discussing matters with people from different cultures, often looking to understand what matters to them and why.

These sensitivities are human phenomena, and you cannot expect a computer to understand and apply these sensitivities because AI aims to get the work done efficiently and effectively without any human considerations or sensitivities.

Communication Skills

Human beings have excellent communication skills as they can communicate with people of different age groups, cultural backgrounds, viewpoints, and religions. People can agree to disagree and move on even if there is a difference.

Artificial Intelligence may not be able to replicate these human traits. Even though AI constantly learns, it does so intending to perform specific tasks. These tasks may appear enormous, including communicating with human clients; one cannot expect AI to learn the finer details.

Mentorship & Coaching

We learn through studying and experiencing crafts, and then we coach and mentor our juniors through the same techniques. The thrill of success and the gut-wrenching feeling of defeat shape us into who we are.

A computer can teach you about any craft and talk about coaching techniques and experiences. However, the emotion associated with the win and loss and the human understanding of it will remain missing.

Design Thinking

Humans can think, rethink, and improve upon the previously available solution. Design thinking is unique to people who define a problem, look for a solution, conceptualize it, implement it, and make improvements based on feedback.

AI can come close to the concept, but it will mimic the process. However, the real heart and soul behind the process is human. Besides, a system cannot understand the success or failure of many tangible and intangible products, and correcting issues is impossible for anyone other than people.

The Bottom Line

Thinking, visualizing, feeling the moment, experiencing pain and joy, and going through other human emotions are unique. It is an experience that may be measured with the help of a machine but never understood by it.

Anything related to personal experiences and feelings will always remain unique to humans; no machine or AI feature will ever replace it. The same goes for efforts like mentoring, design thinking, and so much more.

AI can mimic humans at best. However, it cannot understand all the emotions, the human touch, and the eventual effect on everything.
